What is the Teams Comp?

It's a separate competition running parallel to the Garrard's Gold Footy Tipping Competition where if your team wins overall, you will receive $25 money back. The overall winning team get their names etched on a perpetual shield called the 'Les Banks Memorial Shield'.

It's free if you are a financial member of the Tipping Competition.

Why have a Teams Comp?

To provides an incentive for people who are not at the top of the ladder to have an opportunity to be still able to win back their registration fee ($30). This approach has demonstrated to increase people to remain active throughout the whole season and not give up halfway through.

What are the team names and how do you come up with them?

The team names are named after legends of Rugby League called the immortals. The Team names are Clive Churchill, Reg Gasnier, Bob Fulton, Wally Lewis, Arthur Beetson, Andrew Johns, Herbert "Dally" Messenger and Mal Meninga.

How many points does my team get per round?

The teams score is a combination of your individual score and your team mate's individual scores combined, giving a team total. Teams go head to head each round, creating a new Teams competition ladder. The scoring system is 2 points for a WIN, 1 point for a DRAW and 0 points for a LOSS.

 

How are teams selected and can I change teams?

Teams are drawn via a Facebook LIVE event. All teams will be drawn before the start of Round 1. No, you can not change teams.

Why am I not in a team?

People will be prioritised based on when they were financial in the Garrard’s Gold Footy Tipping Competition. Teams will be made up of multiples of 8. The first 12 multiples of 8 are 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88 and 96.

 

If I’m a reserve, am I eligible for some of the prize money?

No, not unless you are permanently placed in the team. Reserves will be used to replace team members who did not submit any tips for the round, but are not eligible for the Teams Comp prize money.

 

Can a reserve be permanently placed in a team?

Yes, a reserve can be permanently placed in a team. This will occur when a team member forgets to submit any tips in 3 rounds throughout the season. The reserve selected will be determined by admin using the financial priority order.

 

How much can I win if my team wins the Grand Final?

If your team wins the Grand Final, each member of the team will receive $25 money back.

 

Why was I removed from the team?

If you forget to submit any tips in a round on 3 different occasions throughout a season, you will be moved to the reserve bench and not eligible for the Team’s Competition prize money.

 

Who is Les Banks?

Les Bank’s is my late uncle who passed away in 2020. Les was a lover of rugby league and a passionate Magpies/West Tigers supporter. Les, along with his wife, my Aunty Di have been participating in my Footy Tipping Competition since it first started in 2005. Les also won the Footy Tipping Comp back in 2008. I couldn’t think of a more fitting name to be etched on a perpetual shield, alongside the immortals of the game.
